If you don't usually follow the Wall Street Journal, you'll be interested in reading about this!

Rarely do so many timely issues converge at one place, at one point in time.  Topics that involve culture, family values [that is, "family values" in the broad sense of the term], intergenerational differences that involve taste, fashion, and--in the last analysis--consumption!  If you haven't heard about it, the original article appeared in the Wall Street Journal last week--but, for that matter, so did a lot of others!

What makes this so special is the national discussion this article has stirred--you might say that it is down-right controversial.  The title is "Why do we let them dress like that" and treats the matter of how mothers appropriately handle--or may not handle, depending--the style, clothing choices, and general presentation of their teen and pre-teen daughters.

And what a media discussion this has caused--all from one opinion piece in the stodgy WSJ! One doesn't generally think of the Journal being the spring-board for social discussion that leads to such fervor, but it has.  This particular article has been a huge media deal and the most eMailed Journal article in a long time.

There little left for a guy like me to say, once you've read it and all the commentary it has generated. I'd be surprised if you didn't have strong reactions after you read it.  So I share this only in case you've missed it so far--or no one's eMailed it to you!  Now you have no excuse to be left out of the latest buzz that been going around.

After all, it'd be a shame for others and me to not share the "fun"; after all, you wouldn't want to be left out of a national "debate" of sorts, eh?

Enough said--now you have homework to do is you want to be in the know about what a lot of other people are debating right now.
