How to "power dress" for the office in the summer--or screw it up, depending on what you decide.

Do you make an impression?  Yes, but what kind of impression?.

Working in a corporate setting is always fraught with the possibility of making an attire faux pax.  When I look around at the people I see in different business settings, I'm frequently impressed a couple of different ways.  There are some individuals I'm acquainted and work with who have a knack for knowing how to dress--summer, winter, spring, fall...it doesn't matter.  But others I see seem to be pretty clueless at what to wear [and when]; and then there are others who drift between both of these categories!

Guys screw-up in this department more than women, at least that's what I'd bet on being true, for I see more men appearing to have no idea what looks good no matter the season!  I'm not a particularly good authority on this--but I'm know I ahead of a lot of other people.  Thus, I paid special attention to the half-fun, half-serious article in today's Wall Street Journal feature by Christina Binkley, "The new power suit for summer." [When you're "there" check out the slide-show--some of the shots are good, some are amusing!]

If you think you know what you're doing in the fashion category for business attire--check out and see how good you really are.  If you're no power fashionista--or fashionisto!--go get some tips!

After all, it's the Friday before the long Fourth of July weekend--and who needs serious business advice or insight?  I do know that there's plenty of people who do need some summer dress tips.  Are you one of those?  After today you'll have no more excuses.

It's particuarly difficult to figure this out in FL where it's already been 100 degrees for several weeks. Wearing a business suit when you have to spend more than 2 minutes at a time outside is very hard - you wilt immediately!
